Dhar, Madhya Pradesh

Dhar district is a district of Madhya Pradesh state in central India. The magnificent Vindhya Range runs east and west through the district. The most visible parts of ancient Dhar are the massive earthen ramparts, which are best preserved on the western and southern sides of the town. These were most likely built at beginning of the 9th century. Wall remains show that the city was circular in plan and surrounded by a series of tanks and moats, similar to the city of Warangal, in the Deccan.

A Producer Organization belonging to this region with 310+ members; masters of Hand Block (Bagh) Print, have some of the most exquisite and beautiful designed and colorful products such as sarees, bags, bedsheets, dress materials etc. And it was indeed a great pleasure to be with them on the 29th and 30th of January, 2021. Despite a setback due to the pandemic, these talented artisans of this region were so upbeat and looking forward for some knowledge which would help them to grow and progress. We had a great time interacting with some of the artisans of this organization, something to cherish for a long, long time to come!
